A more likely explanation for changing aspects of some of their recollections would be harrassment or intimidation from federal or local officials covering up JFKs execution.  After all,  there would only be a limited number of witnesses the CIA/military black ops teams or DPD death squads could "suicide" or kill "accidentally".  No matter how much they would have liked to they could not get rid of everyone that saw the murder.

I don think she did change her story.

First she was asked if she saw a person fire the weapon. She said she did not see any person fire the weaopn.

In the second part she was asked if she saw a gunman.
She said she saw a puff of smoke and a flash of light. She never said she saw a person.

Bob,

She has certainly changed her story, and on more than one point.  All you have to do is review her testimony over the years and you will see what I mean.

Why Roger Craig Bill?

Roger Craig was interviewed in 1968 by the Los Angeles Free Press.  In that interview he was asked if he handled the rifle.  This was his response:

"Yes, I did. I couldn't give its name because I don't know foreign rifles, I know it was foreign made, and you loaded it downward into a built-in clip. The ID man took it and ejected one live round from it. The scope was facing north, the bolt facing upwards and the trigger south."

The Dallas Police Officers that examined the rifle on the scene claimed that the rifle was indeed a Mannlicher-Carcano.  Some later wrote reports to that effect, including Lieutenant J. C. Day and Detective C. N. Dhority.  The rifle was photographed in place by Studebaker, showing  a Carcano..  Alyea filmed the rifle in place as well as Lieutenant J.C. Day removing it from the floor, again it was a Carcano in this film.

In November of 1963, Craig didn't say anything about "Mauser" being stamped on the rifle.  He simply made this up later.  If Craig did see Mauser stamped on the barrel on 11/22/63, rest assured he would have reported it.  He didn't.  Not until later when he wanted to make money off of his story.

Weitzman was a - as was Fritz, as proved by their official affidavits (i.e. legal documents as they, of all people well knew) regarding the rifle being a Mauser. Therefore, by deduction, it seems that Craig must also have been a .
