Missing Couch film frames?  (Read 692 times)

Was watching the Malcom Couch film, and noticed while he was riding
in the open car and had just filmed the Pergola area on the grassy knoll,
he began sweeping to his left...towards the direction of the Triple Overpass.
But just as he began doing so, it looks like there is a "break" in the film
and the very next thing we see is the Triple Overpass area down Elm St.

It's like the stockade fence area was edited or taken out of the film!!
And if so....why??

Here's his filming/panning sequence below. Note how we see a "break"
in his film, and the stockade fence area omitted!!   walkietalkie2   copxx

Can't say for sure you'll find your answer here Rick but it's what your observation reminded me of.

Hi Alan, Hope that everything has been going fine.

Thank you for the link. I have been to that page before,
and it's hard to say. Maybe the Couch film was subject to
the very same. Who knows.

maybe he just lifted up his trigger finger for a few seconds? smokexx

Maybe John. Seems awfully strange to stop filming for that brief of a time frame...then to begin filming once again.

Rick.
Just one known example of what's missing from Groden's copy of Couch.
When I first saw this frame I was so confused I thought it had to be from Darnell.

To me it looks like theres such a small timespan missing in the "break".  If it was from Couch he must have started filming again almost immeadiatly but, when you look at what he focuses on in the street, you can understand why he did what he did, if he did do...
doh!

I think there was a general mentality back then of not wasting valuable film, so they were a bit "trigger happy", where as these days, pausing your camera during such an event is probably the worst mistake you could make.

You could ask Robin or Chris wether they see the same break in the DChannels copy of Couch where the above frame comes from.
I have it on VHS somewhere...

*Sorry for the huge image.
