TSBD roof seconds after the shooting-McIntire photo  (Read 9579 times)

Credit to Robin Unger for use of his McIntire photograph in the gallery.
This was used for the cropped & enlarged frames in my animation below,
and also the full sized photograph.

These crops were only slightly adjusted in contrast before the highlight
circle was added. The highlight circle adds 69% in brightness within itself.

Focus is on the Texas School Book Depository....S-SW corner. There looks
to be small "bites" in both the letters "O" and "L" in the CHEVROLETS portion
of the sign on top of the roof. Closer examination shows what may be
two figures on the S-SW corner of the roof. So just who was on top of the
roof at this time??  walkietalkie2

i also thought it is some kind of bird *rofl* maybe a vulture *ouch* but the proportions don't fit

it was a good idea Rick to overlay both McIntire pics...

Thanks Gerry. Problem is McIntire's second photograph does not match
the quality of his first. I'm certain there has to be a better scan out there.
Problem is trying to obtain a better one. Not too much time elapsed
between these two photographs. I'm assuming less than 15 seconds.

Gerda

I like this one. But to me both frames look
a bit blurry??  Any way you could sharpen
them up and then slow the animation down
just a little? I see some movement in mine.

Thank you   gimme5xx

Rick,

no problem, i'll sharpen them up a bit, maybe an inverted version too

best to you  gimme5xx

140 ms per frame (40 ms before)

sharpen filter (GIF-X) 1x

sharpen filter (GIF-X) 2x

and inverted (sharpen 1x)

Many thanks for doing that Gerda!   hugsxx

I like the first one best. With the 1X sharpening.
To me at least, I begin to see some movement.
But even still, the crop from McIntire's first photo
still looks as if it should be sharper? There is a big
difference between his first and second photo, or
at least what we have available to us that represents
them, in clarity. I wish that we could find a better
McIntire2

Rick,Gerry

I see movement in them too. Both the areas I
mentioned moved.
Questions................

How tall are the letters in the Chevrolet sign?

How many seconds apart are the 2 McIntyre photos.
Can you post #1 and #2 side by side....if you have'em handy?

Is there another film or still that catches this area?
(maybe taken from a location close to the Hughes film location..or? )

We do know there were pigeons on the top of TSBD somewhere, so there
were indeed some birds up there.........but these would be awful big birds.........I know the
California Condor is big...but Dallas ain't California.

Martin,

Here are both of the Mel McIntire photographs. Just click on the thumbnail
images for both and you should be able to view each one in their full size.
You must click on the image once again after being taken to the image
hosting site...to see it in its full size. These animations that Gerry and I
have made were enlarged even further from their original size in our
process.

The key to how much time elapses between both photographs depends on
the speed of the motorcade at this point. The presidential limo was of course
followed by the Queen Mary. Note Queen Mary's location in the first McIntire
image and then in the second. I would assume less than 10 seconds separates
both images. It is also apparent that McIntire moved in his position slightly
between both of his photographs.

Pigeons were rumored to be on top of the TSBD roof at the time the shots
rang out and flew off into the sky. It's possible movement on the roof could
have caused this as well.
